Education
I have been at Pierce College for 2 years. I earned my associates of science from Pierce College and recently graduated. The plan is to transfer to UW Seattle to earn my BS, Chemistry . If not UW, then PLU for the same major. My overall gpa is a 3.75 and my gpa for the past 2 years ( my associates) is a 3.9. I have earned 4.0's in all my science (organic chemistry) and math (calculus) classes this past year.
Experience
I have tutored at Pierce College for 4 quarters, going into my 5th this quarter. For 3 quarters I was also an SI (supplemental instruction) leader. As an SI leader, I organized and planned interactive study sessions around the lecture material. I am able to adapt my tutoring style to fit the individual needs of the student. The past 2 years I have completed the general chemistry series, organic chemistry series, calculus series, physics series, Spanish series (1-3), and some other various classes. Last year, I received the Outstanding Student of the Year for my work in General Chemistry (one student from Pierce College is chosen for this award). This year I earned the same award for my work in Organic Chemistry. I was also chosen as one of two students in Pierce College for the All-Washington Academic Team, a title given to select students chosen by the presidents of their colleges. When tutoring, I hold to the "scaffolding" method as I was trained in Pierce College. I believe in creating independent learners out of students by introducing study skills and test taking strategies as well as help the students identify their individual learning styles. As the tutoring sessions continue, the "scaffolding support" is slowly taken away when the students become self sustaining learners.

Hobbies
When I am not tutoring or focusing on my studies, I enjoy riding my horse Elle through the forest, and going on long backpacking trips through the mountains. I love the outdoors and have a passion for adventure! I also enjoy reading science fiction novels (Starwars anyone?) and playing video games.
