Emma W.
Private tutor in Tacoma, WA
Education
I graduated in May of 2015 from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in History. During my time at UPS, I achieved a 3.73 grade point average while also receiving a degree minor in French. In the spring of 2014 I spent a semester studying in Amsterdam at the University of Amsterdam where I focused my studies upon gender studies, identity politics, art history, and Dutch language and culture.
Experience
While I do not have any formal tutoring experience, I have always been a very strong student, having won awards from the French and History departments and graduating with honors in my major. Outside of French and history, I also have academic experience in film studies, art history, and politics and government. More importantly, however, I hope to spend my life working towards the advancement of education, particularly for women and girls in the developing world. Next year, I hope to be teaching English in France as a means of improving my language skills and, by extension, my abilities to help those in countries such as the Côte d'Ivoire, Haiti or the DRC. Therefore, any teaching experience I could gain through tutoring your child would ultimately further my larger goal of helping those who struggle greatly to gain access to education.

Hobbies
One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to go horseback riding, something I try and make time for at least once a week. I also love to practice yoga and go hiking with my friends. When the Pacific Northwest rains make these activities a little more difficult, however, I enjoy playing the violin and reading in both French and English.
