Experience
I studied neuroscience at Brown University and, in 2012, received a Rhodes scholarship to, well, keep doing that at the University of Oxford. In the U.K., I picked up a master's in neuroscience and a second master's in public policy; both from Oxford. Somewhere along the way, I decided I liked school enough that it was worth teaching a bit, too. Over the past five years, I've worked as a private tutor, a prep school teacher, a peer advisor, and a writing fellow. Teaching, for me, is about helping students develop their intuition and curiosity. It's never about memorization—rather, it's about the tools that are necessary to make things like memorization come naturally and seem warranted.

Hobbies
Outside of teaching, I'm interested in areas like climate policy, bioethics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the relationships between science, policy, and society. I'm always happy to talk about career advice and applications and all that other nonsense. I've mostly worked in journalism, in science, and in policy. My work has been published by places like The Atlantic, Scientific American, Mother Jones, The New Republic, Newsweek, and Grist, where I recently finished a fellowship.
